Out of the basement?

Last Friday, I went out with Wendy afterwork. She was craving her comfort food, steak tartar, and a beverage. Her job upstairs is going well enough. I think she thrives under the challenge of more responsibility. Although it certainly has its rub on occassion and after a week of meetings she was a bit worn aroundvthe edges. The outing helped.

Anyway, she mentioned a job opening that she could see me doing well in. She did help train me and knows my strengths in a tangible fashion. Through her roles and keen observations she has a pretty well developed idea of the different departments and how the are operating so I know shes not guiding me into a shit show (like engineering).

I took the weekend to consider it and then the property bill arrived. A 3.5K increase. I need to step up my game so we can continue to make ends meet.

Plus... Im ready to outgrow the basement. Im ready to be off of the shifting weekend schedule. Im ready to be off the adherance clock and watchful eyes. I have no issues with the clock watchers themselves. Its what they are paid to do ... but... it wears thin.

Lets face it, the basement is repressive. Confined primary to our individual spaces...sigh... Tethered to our stations. I think my taste of life off the queue, working on special missions, has jaded my view a little. I would like to expand. Take something new underwing and fly to newer ground level heights. (Perhaps I could have summed up my elemental post with this paragraph alone)

Some might think this next story is an example of me embracing that same mentality, but I assure you that was not my intention or aim... In fact, I kind of makes me want to curl up and hide a little.

Last week sometime... well first a backstory... At the end of last year, the training team instituted the use of a new application for rolling out announcements about a massive digital resource overhaul being implemented. This application was billed as a facebook like environment. Each person has a profile page and you can follow others etc. The training team had used it for group messages.... so last week, there was a update... its been months since I last looked at it... well my profile page was looking sad and Im not following or followed or anything of that sort and so I posted something about the song of the day being high voltage by electric6 because I was dealing with a mower fire. It was a very me facebook post. The next day I posted that

" If I want to keep up with"

Insert my bosses first name -who I get to move around with a bit during special project work (my resistance to being tied to phone extending from this somewhat)

" then I need to learn to walk faster"

Then doug liked my first post. Wait

... what??? He saw it. I was a little surprised. I have since recieved notifications from across the entire generac network with people asking if its fishing or if its spam.

Hey look at me! Was not what I was going for. I dont usually face palm..but yea..that happened.

And this is how the garden grows.

I dont usually face palm but.. yea... that happened.
